Benedict Arnold was an American Revolutionary War soldier. He was born in Norwich Connecticut on January 14, 1741. He was descended from a Rhode Island family. He was the son of Capt. Benedict and Hannah King (Waterman) Arnold.
At the age of 14, Benedict was apprenticed to a form of druggists. He ran away twice to fight in the French and Indian War, but finally completed his apprenticeship . His parents died in 1762. Benedict then moved to New Haven with his sister, establishing himself as a bookseller and druggist.
