There are two types of rainforests; tropical and temperate. Geographically it is rare to find both in the same country. Tropical rainforests can be found in 85 countries around the world, and are said to be millions of years old. They are located near the equator, where temperatures stay above 80 degrees Fahrenheit all year round. These rainforests flourish in Latin and South American, Africa, and in Southeast Asia. In 1990, tropical rainforests covered 1.7 billion acres of land. This rainforest consists of three layers, the forest floor, the understudy, and the canopy.
