Hurricane Isabel is coming to shore. Should the people of the North
Carolina coast take cover? Should they evacuate? Should they listen to the
authorities? Hurricanes can be devastating and should not be taken lightly.
I know from personal experience with Hurricane Fran in 1997.
The National Hurricane Center has encouraged over 75,000 people in North
Carolina to evacuate the coastal area due to Hurricane Isabel. Although the
hurricane has appeared to weaken and the winds are down to 105 mph, it is
still considered a dangerous storm. At any given time, the storm could gain
momentum again as they cross the Gulf Stream. She is expected to hit land
on Thursday, September 16 and will surely cause damage to the surround
