Salinity is one of the major environmental constraints to the permanence of irrigated agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions of the world. The problem of salinity of arable land is exceptionally pressing at the present time. Salanized areas increase from year to year, and very few cultivated plants withstand salinity. Salinity is a worldwide problem and total salt affected area in the world is about 955 mha. This problem is also very serious in Pakistan because 6.67 mha of arable land in Pakistan are affected by various degrees of soil salinity (Khan, 1998).
