George Orwell "Shooting an Elephant" critique and summary
|
This story was about a man who reacted like a teenager in high school, simply because of peer pressure. As I think about it though, I guess we will face peer pressure for the rest of our lives. The story involved a man who was treated different because he was anti-European (or something of that nature). The only time this gentleman felt important was when he was about to do something he didn't feel comfortable doing. Killing an elephant was the task that he faced. Somehow the elephant broke off his chain and terrorized these people community. Even took the lives of innocent bystanders, ran over bamboo huts, and even killed cows. So this guy who also happened to be a police officer was faced with the decision of his life.
