In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare shows us the danger
|
“These violent delights have violent ends” Act 2 Scene 6 Line 9. Friar Laurence warns that love of such intensity cannot last long. They fall in love at first sight and within a day, they are married. What can be more intense than this? Unfortunately, such intensity often lead them to blindness, danger and extreme passion.
The concept of fate or fortune is introduced by the Prologue with a reference to the “pair of star-crossed lovers. Shakespeare juxtapose stars and eyes throughout the play, and he is trying to claim that both of these two really need glasses. This suggest that they do not pause to consider the other options presented nor do they beware of the circumstances brought upon by their actions.
