Depending on the situation, a fire sprinkler is individually heat calculated and are supplied with a calculated amount of water at a predetermined pressure through a series of small piping. When the heat from a fire raises, the fire sprinklers plug will melt or a liquid filled bulb will shatter, usually at a temperature of 155F (68C), thus activating that single sprinkler and releasing water in a controlled pattern directly over the source of the fire.
Contrary to many movies filmed, fire sprinklers do not all simultaneously go off. The fire sprinklers operate automatically in the area of fire origin, preventing a fire from growing undetected, while at the same time sounding an alarm.
