Introduction
Having been involved as an independent consultant in research, development and consulting activities on visual impairment, enabling technologies and accessibility issues for the past decade and a half, the author discusses the importance of information technology, IT literacy and information access for visually impaired children and youth. The discussions focus not only on information technology as an enabling technology to be deployed by disabled users.
