Gun Control or Control by Guns? Gun control is an issue that has quickly gained momentum. Some people believe that gun control should have no restrictions and that every individual over the legal age should have the choice of owning a firearm without many questions asked. The rest believe that all people shouldn’t own guns and that would cause a decrease in crime and violence.
The right to own a gun has a long tradition especially in western civilization. In the 1930’s, Franklin Roosevelt unsuccessfully tried to pass legislation requiring the registration of handguns. Finally in 1992 the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act was enacted which imposed a five-day waiting period on handgun purchases and a criminal background check. C
