1. INTRODUCTION: First, I will discuss why there has been much debate about the software industry and Bill Gates. Second, I will highlight the legal and ethical issues in the Microsoft case that relates to the U.S. culture. Third, I will try to discuss whether or not these issues extend to other countries that use Microsoft products. Fourth, I will discuss the corporate culture in relations to the issues involved and how it has affected the U.S. debate. Fifth, I will identify the types of power associated with each player in the case, how and why each player is using these types of power. Last, I will discuss the potential ramifications of their actions. 2. The reason(s) for the debate about the software industry and Bill Gates.
