The main changes experienced in My Place are experienced by the character, Daisy (Nan). At the start of the novel, we as the reader are shown character of Nan from the perspective of Sally as a child. We are shown that she very in touch with the nature around her (her checking on the trees & listening to the animals of a morning) and has a distinct dislike of the government. We are also given clues about Nans history with the "Cure Alls" and her passion for nature. When Sally confronts Nan and Gladys about their heritage they simply tell her to tell the kids at school that they are Indian.
