Mercy killing, or euthanasia, is medically defined as the intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit. To put it simple, it is an act of putting death painlessly to a person suffering from an incurable and painful disease. Through out China, the debate on whether mercy killing should or should not be advocated is getting hotter and hotter. Different people have different opinions; some suggest that the family and doctors should respect the death decision made by a terminally ill patient. But I argue that mercy killing, even if voluntary, should not be advocated in China.
