I’m here to talk about child marriages. And why they should not be allowed. I’ll be talking about where these occur and, I will also be mentioning a an example of those who have suffered from child marriages. Firstly, where is it practiced? Child marriages though illegal, persist across the globe, but are spread out throughout in parts of Africa and south Asia. These kind of marriages are common in Rajasthan, India which have kept rajasthani women among the most socially disadvantaged across India. The weddings are an annual event in Rajasthan, part of a festival of Akehai Teej. This day is considered auspicious day in India for marriages and on this day thousands of girls, some as young as six months old are married to older boys
