Romanesqur VS Gothic

Roman construction emphasizes heavy masses, thick walls, and solid, plain exteriors. Gothic architecture, which originated in France in the Twelfth Century, differs from Romanesque architecture in mood and construction. It is characterized by tall, light-filled spaces. The exteriors are ornate and filled with sculptures. Romanesque architecture has a sober and somber quality, while Gothic style is lighter and more delicate.
The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine is an example of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
