During my hour and a half reading period of Gail Sheehy’s book, Passages, I noticed few elements that made this book slightly more enticing to read. When I first started reading the book, I was not too sure what the title “Passages” meant. In reading, I found that passages meant more of a term for the journey into adulthood, and in some cases, during adulthood. Passages refer to the stages, or paths that an individual takes in order to complete the search for a true identity. However, because this search is ultimately endless, many passages or paths in this book are taken during mid adulthood, or in the early steps of being an adult. These steps are also known to many adults as “the mid-life crises”.
