The Continued Need for Genetic Testing

There are parents out there who have had a child die from a virtually unheard of genetic disorder. Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is the second leading genetic disorder that kills. Without continued genetic testing the future generations of children afflicted with SMA will die. This is a grim outlook for them and their families, so genetic testing should not be illegal. “One out of every ten thousand lives births involves a child being born with SMA” (Genomics & Genetics Weekly).
