The issue of the legal drinking age in Alberta and whether or not it should be raised brings to mind several questions and opposing views. As of right now, the legal drinking age here is Alberta is 18 and has been since 1971, but before that it was 21.
I believe that if they lowered the age in 1971, then why should they raise it again now? I think that the age should stay the same because people who are 18 now and are occupying the bars and purchasing alcohol are still going to be drinking and stuff if they were to raise the legal age, they will then just try to find someone older to buy their alcohol for them. If they raise the age, then it won’t just be the teenagers-the ones under 18 that are trying to sneak around behind the cops’
