Many legislators don’t have time to gather information on all the current issues facing their constituents as well as the rest of the nation. They rely on lobbyists to provide this information. The key to lobbyists, who represent millions of groups and organizations, is that they are personable, knowledgeable and have accurate facts. A legislator doesn’t want to make a public announcement with misinformation.
A lobbyist’s organization in which it represents doesn’t provide candidates instead these organizations want to influence government policies and actions through elected officials. There is an estimated 28 lobbyists for every member of Congress. It is said that roughly $1.5 billion is spent directly on lobbying activities.
