“That’s what you are. That’s what you all are,’ Miss Stein said. ‘All of you young people who served in the war. You are a lost generation,” (Hemingway, 29). Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast is the quintessential story and display of what this quote means. Not only is Paris a perfect setting, but Hemingway telling his life from the first person point of view is great too. He is the perfect character and embodies this generation of people. From 1915 to around 1925 there was what Miss Stein, a character in this book, calls “The Lost Generation.” This generation of people, mostly comprised of soldiers who fought in World War I and their wives, was described as having little ambition, a free spirit, and an unknown future.
