June 25, 1996 was one of the scariest days of my life. I remember coming home from church camp to my mom in tears. I didn’t know what was going on, just that something was wrong with my mommy. I remember her sitting me down on her bed, and all she could say was, “Erin I have cancer and I could die”. It was then on that hot day in June that I discovered that my mom had breast cancer. In the past few years, I have learned that many people in my family have different types of cancer and diseases and illnesses, most of which are hereditary.
