Hedda Gabler and Ibsen's Impact and Morality Within Society

Throughout the course of time, various authors have sought out to accomplish a variety of tasks through their writing. Be it to amuse one’s audience through narrative, reveal truth behind myth or establish methods of improving upon a given subject, authors have made it their purpose to fulfill a desired goal through their literature. Of all of these goals, none has boggled authors so much as interpreting and constructively criticizing human nature, for in doing so, they must take up the task of evaluating themselves as well. Despite the difficulty of truthfully accomplishing such a chore, Henrik Ibsen, made it his quest, beginning in 1877, when he set out creating a series of five plays, which examine the moral faults of modern society
