Hamlet’s Delay – The cause and effect
The story of Hamlet is about a prince sent to avenge his father’s death. He is visited by his father’s ghost, who explains what has happened. Hamlet learns that his uncle Claudius is the man who killed his father. After vowing to avenge his father’s death, Hamlet takes some time before killing king Claudius. As there is question in Hamlet’s mind about the ghostly figure, he decides to act mad. Later, he reenacts the scene of his father’s death for the king which would eventually lead to the death of both Hamlet and Claudius. The cause and effect of Hamlet’s delay is what intrigues the audience and basically creates the plotline for the story.
