Rock and Roll has always been a part of my life. Have you ever wondered where or how it got started? It originated from the first blues, and changed into Rhythm and Blues (R&B). Musicians over the years have adapted the blues’ form of music by adding their own style and sound to create what we know as rock and roll.
The blues took on many forms: gospel, boogie-woogie, jump blues, and country to name just a few. The blues were first sung by the slaves. They would sing while working in the fields to break up the boredom. They also sang and danced in the evenings. Their songs were often about their homeland because of their need to remember their heritage.
