This film is about the landing of English colonies on the American continents and what effects this change had on the Native Americans. The Europeans came to the Americas with the assumption that they had the right to claim the land for themselves. They intended to take whatever valuables they discovered, and they looked upon the natives as savage inferior beasts. In spite of their distrust of foreigners, the natives saved the colonists from death by starvation. The natives taught the colonist how to plant native crops and shared with them valuable foods. Some of the natives wanted to eliminate the colonists; however, Pocahontas saved Captain John Smith, one of the leading colonists.
