My name is Elzie and I am 17 yrs. old. I attend A. Maceo Smith High School in Dallas, Texas and I expect to graduate in the Spring of 2003. I almost decided not to try for this scholarship because I didn’t think that the adversities that I have overcome to reach the point where I am presently were all that great; that is until I talked to my little brother. I play lead trumpet in the AMS Band, I am the lead bass singer in the choir, I have run track since my elementary days, my class schedule is made of AP courses and I maintain at least a 2.5 GPA at all times.
