Throughout history the people of the Roman Empire have been portrayed as brutal and unforgiving. Rome’s lust for violence bordered on morbid obsession and this view of Rome seems to be the only thing most people remember. People forget how civilized the people of the Roman Empire were. Though Roman people had a predilection for violence, they were more civilized than other cultures of the time and was actually similar to our American culture today. It is a well known fact that Roman citizens indulged in events that were, to say the least, bloody.
