It was the year of 1491 in St. Malo, france, when Jacques Cartier was born. His life had been very secretive before 1534.This is when he departed for his first voyage. This voyage was either in or around North America to East Asia. It took him only twenty days to reach an island off the coast of Newfoundland. He had three great expeditions. He was an explorer from the ST. Lawrence river to present day Montreal. His original intent was to discover a passage to the Orient. Jaques Cartier died in St. Malo on Sept. 1, 1557.
