According to the Catechism, “everything that Jesus did, said, and suffered, had as its purpose the re-establishment of humanity, fallen into sin”. As such, we can say that everything in the reading can be tied into in one way or another with the concept of redemption. In fact, in this, we can see just how perfectly redemption was accomplished. As has been said before, God didn’t need to send his Son to redeem us, why would God need to do anything? God could have redeemed us on a mere whim, for He is God, with all that that implies. However, through the redemption accorded to all humans through our Lord Jesus Christ, we see a manifestation of His perfect justice, as can be seen in the Catechism.
