Finding ones place in the world is looked at as the most important part of ones life. This theme was used in the 1988 movie "Big Blue" as the two main characters Enzo and Jacques searched desperately for their places in the world. They are "free divers”; divers who do not use scuba gear and hold their breaths underwater for as long as possible. The Dives they do are very dangerous and more of a rush to them than to the audience. The movie doesn’t develop the characters enough, and it is strung out and tediously long.
