The Call of the Wild is a story about a sled dog, Buck who has to fight for his life in the harsh environment of Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush in the late 1800’s. He began his life as a beloved family dog on a California estate. It was common for large, strong dogs to be kidnapped to help the gold diggers haul their hundreds of pounds of supplies on their quest for gold. Buck was unlucky because one of the gardener’s helpers, Manuel, kidnapped Buck to sell him so that he could pay off his gambling bets. Here’s the story of Buck’s survival.
Buck adapts to the wild by watching other dogs and imitating them. Thrown into a world unknown to him and beaten into submission by his captors, Buck knew he had to act differently
