Simon Kuznets is an economist in the 1900's and was best known for his studies of national income and its components. Simon Kuznets was a professor of economics at the University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins University, and Harvard University. He was president of the American Economic Association. He did the measures of GNP in which were rough guesses at best. With work that began in the thirties and stretched over decades, Simon Kuznets computed national income back to 1869. He broke it down by industry, by final product, and by use. He also measured the distribution of income between rich and poor.
