The Navajo code talkers played a very important role in World War 2. Without it, the outcome of the war may have been very different. The code talkers’ language was an invaluable resource that saved many lives. The Japanese experts broke every other code the U.S. had except for this one. They were learning the time and place of American attacks in advance. This caused the Americans to create a secret code that could not be broken by any means.
Shortly after Pearl Harbor, 29 Navajos were recruited by a man named Phillip Johnston. Johnston worked with the Navajos to create a complex system using basic Navajo words to describe operations and military equipment. The Navajo language has no alphabet or symbols, and is completely undecipherable
