In Cold Blood, by Truman Capote, is the story of the murder of an entire family in an extremely rural town called Holcomb. Holcomb is located in Kansas, and is the kind of town one thinks of when they picture “the middle of nowhere”. Capote describes, in detail, the landscape of the town. There is a post office, a café, an apartment complex, an old bank redone into a few small apartments, and the school that children attend from kindergarten to eighth grade. The only other buildings located in Holcomb are the houses, which are mainly small, one story houses. The Clutter’s house, however, was a large house on a vast amount of farmland.
