Introduction
There are many occasions in the film 'Dead Poets Society' where parallels can be drawn between Mr. Keating and Jesus. An obvious parallel is Keating and Jesus both have savior roles. Jesus Christ savior of the world; John Keating savior of the boys. Keating is an instructor of English and he employs unconventional teaching methods. Keating advocates that students should "seize the day" and think for themselves. This is best illustrated by his insistence that every student in his class should rip pages from the course textbook, which prescribe a lifeless methodology for interpreting poetry. Through out the movie Keating sets an example to the boys just like Jesus did to his disciples.
