Foot lights blaze on the gilded crimson curtain; a tiny, distant conductor raises his arms high and pauses. The conductor's baton starts a wild dance as I hear a symphony begin playing all around me. I am now on the edge of my seat anticipating what I will see when the curtain is drawn back. The movie has not even started, yet. This intro appeals to my passion for live theater. Moulin Rouge has hold of me immediately. The music, fantastic effects, and rich colors tell me that I am in for a wild ride. The opening scene has us zooming through the streets of Paris in 1900. Narrating us through this whimsical, Technicolor flight is our poet-hero Christian (Ewan Mcgregor), a young writer from London. He begins weaving a tale of his past year
