“Animation is the technique of using film to create the illusion of movement from a series of two-dimensional drawings or three-dimensional objects” (Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia). Animation is used in cartoons, video games, commercials, and in movies.
The origin of animation cannot be traced back to one main influential individual but experiments and inventions from as far back as the 1800’s can help us to understand where the idea for animation first evolved.
