The True Tragic heroes of Antigone and Hamlet
Both the plays, Antigone and Hamlet open with an unnatural death: the death of Antigone’s brother before the beginning of Antigone and the death of the king of Denmark before the beginning of Hamlet. Both the plays presents a protagonist that is troubled about the death and seeks to honor the death- Hamlet by avenging his father’s death and Antigone by giving her brother a proper burial. Both the plays are considered, as tragedies because both, Hamlet and Antigone meet their fates while trying to right a wrong committed against a dead loved one.
