People can take different approaches when it comes to the most efficient way of teaching and learning literature. First, there is the traditional approach, which consists on learning from what has been the basis since the beginning of time. Secondly, the mainstream approach that includes how public education enables a person to express their individuality. Finally there’s the modern alternative model, which includes ensemble individualism. This consists how people construct their knowledge of literacy by working in a community (Heath, p. 160). These three approaches have their strengths and weaknesses; one cannot work without the other two. They work hand by hand to allow a person to fully comprehend the meaning of literacy.
