Galileo was one of the brilliant minds of our time; at the age of 19 he discovered, in essence, the law of the pendulum. He did this by using his pulse to time the swing, from this he found that the swings were a constant period of time. Therefore the pendulum is isochronometric, this discovery enabled people to start using the pendulum to regulate mechanical movement and make the first really accurate clocks.
The times were beginning to change around this time. There was now a global commerce, the working class was growing and so there was a need for work, pay, loans, interest and so on. The whole basis of time revolved around money.
