Diabetes Mellitus disease develops when the pancreas produces too little or no insulin, a hormone that helps the body tissue absorbs glucose (sugar). Glucose level rises when food or drinks are consumed. When a person has diabetes, the pancreas produces insufficient levels of insulin or unable too use insulin the body produces. Diabetes can be diagnosis through an oral glucose tolerance test, after fasting (abstained from food) for eight hours. Presently the major forms are Type I, Type II, and Gestational Diabetes. Making positive life style adjustments, taking medication when prescribed, eating healthier, regular physical activity, and with personal grooming people are living longer, happier lives.
