In this experiment, my aim is to investigate how the length of a metal wire affects the resistance. To find out what the resistance is, we must find out two other factors. These factors are potential difference (Volts) and Current (Amperes). Resistance is a force that slows something down, or resists another force. In our case, the resistant force is resisting against the flow of ‘free electrons’. In a metal wire, ‘free electrons’, so called because they are not attached to a particular atom. The free electrons in the metal move around randomly in no particular direction. But, when a potential difference is applied between the two ends of a wire, the electrons begin to move or flow in one direction, creating an electrical current. As they m
