Ecstasy's Effects on the Body

Ecstacy (C11H15NO2) is the most widely abused drug among middle to upper class people. This is probably due to its rather easy accessability, long-lasting effects and the small amount needed to obtain an effect. There are many different kinds of ecstacy, some estimate 500 kinds in the United States alone (Jansen, 1996), 99 of which can be seen in figure 1. Ecstacy is ingested in the pill form, and is about the same size as an aspirin. There are many variations in shape and color, and some have been found in the form of gel caps. Ecstacy is rarely injected, though it is possible to do so. Other ways of introducing the drug to the body are anally and inhalation of the powdered form.
