Kosovo

Kosovo is a province of Yugoslavia. Kosovo has 60,000 Roman Catholics, 1.7 million Muslims, and 150,000 Serbian Orthodox. The war in Kosovo in 1999 resulted from a case of confrontation between a historical claim and anothers ethnic claim to the same territory. The area of Kosovo is sacred to Serbs this area is where there culture and church is. It is also the site of the epic Battle of Kosovo in 1389, which most Serbs consider the most important event in their history. However, by the 19th century the population of Kosovo was mostly Albanian, and in the late 20th century Albanians accounted for more than 80 percent of its population. In 1981 the Yugoslav government had mass demonstrations by Albanians, who demanded that Kosovo be granted
