Hurricanes are products of a tropical ocean and a warm, moist atmosphere and powered by heat from the sea. The system is steered by high-level easterly winds while in the tropics, generally south of 25„aN latitude and high-level westerly winds north of 25„aN latitude. Every tropical ocean contains hurricanes except the Southeast Pacific and the South Atlantic. Due to the Earth¡¦s rotation, these storms spin counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern hemisphere, which is a direct connection to the Coriolis Effect.
