The concept of slavery is cruel and inhuman. Unfortunately, the early settlers in the early colonies had many slaves. At first the number of slaves were limited. Over time, this number grew at an extremely rapid pace. By 1775, Blacks made up 50-60% of the population of South Carolina, and 30-50% of Georgia’s population.Economic, geographic, and social factors encouraged the growth of slavery as an important part of the economy of the southern colonies between 1607 and 1775 .
