Firstly, it is very difficult to classify what is a Romantic poem. There was the ‘Romantic revolution’ from the late eighteenth century to the eighteen-twenties. The poets from this period are classified ‘Romantic’. This is a label for the poems, therefore, as there was not meant to be any evident connections between the poems of this time when written, it is difficult to pick out the characteristics of these ‘Romantic’ poems.
Romantic poetry has no definite characteristics. The poems range from a poet writing about his love for a woman to a poet describing the depressive state of London.
