Physics coursework - Resistnace of a wire
For this experiment we were asked to investigate how the resistance of a wire is affacted by its length. What: is resistance?:
Any conductor has free electrons, the number of free electrons depends on the material but the more free electrons the material has the better a conducter the material will be. If a material is a good conductor then it has low resistance (a high amount of free electrons). For example gold is a better conductor than iron becuase it has more free electrons, which makes it a better conductor. The free electrons in any conductor receive energy causing them to vibrate and colide with with other free electrons, this happens across the whole conductive material and electricity
