Queen Elizabeth was in control during the time of Shakespeare, although he never seemed to incorporate women into the position of power in his plays- at least not up front. Women In his time were completely disregarded. They were not even permitted to act in His plays- normally young men would play the roles of women. In “Macbeth” Lady Macbeth has much control over Macbeth and his actions. The issue here is whether of not Shakespeare should be praised for allowing a woman to take control, or reprimanded because the only way this was possible was for her to have manly attributes.
