Hamlet--imagery and rhetorical devices

In the Elizabethan tragedy Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare is able to depict the exact feelings and surroundings of a scene using his ability to paint pictures through his word usage. He also utilizes the devices of figures of speech and sound patterns to further enhance the image presented. Shakespeare’s mastery of such devices, along with his eloquent style of writing, make for interesting and detailed accounts throughout Hamlet. One such example of Shakespeare’s talent can be found in Act one Scene two, when Hamlet gives his first soliloquy of the play.
