The word bowl is believed to be derived from the Saxon word bolla and the Danish bolle both are translations of the word bubble. Other translations for the word are the Latin bulla the French boule. The game of bowling is believed to be dated around five thousand B.C. This theory was made by the British Egyptologist Sir Flinders Petrie while excavating a child’s grave he found a game he believed to be the similar to the modern day sport of bowling.
